In your experience, whether you are the hiring manager/Recruiter, or the job seeker: If it’s said that they’d make a decision and get back to you in "X time" after your interview, but does not get back to you within that timeframe and you have to follow up, does this usually mean you were not selected for the job?

In my experience, when I had to follow up, I was not selected.

Most of the time, yes, it does mean you weren’t selected. That said, I’ve had recruiters reach out weeks later to move me forward to the next interview. Not everyone is great at communicating, and unfortunately, radio silence has become pretty common. Often it’s just logistics and packed schedules, but even so, they should be better communicators.

like

Yeah unfortunately. On the rare occasion, the interviewer or HM gets swamped and the timeline gets pushed back. But generally speaking, if they want you, they're going to make sure you know it.

like

Mostly, yes. Only one time did I move forward and when I followed up they let me know what the delay was. But yeah, that was one time out of countless.

In all of my experience when they are excited about you they move fast.

Update. I was unfortunately rejected.

I am in the process of finding administrative assistant interns from our local universities. In an effort to make my job opportunity appealing, I am asking everyone in this bowl about an appropriate job title. Is "Administrative Assistant" outdated or unappealing? I certainly don't want to mislead anyone on the job responsibilities, but I do want to avoid any potential negative stereotypes attached to that job title. Are there alternative titles that you find more appropriate for 2022?
