Public vs commercial is a key question. On the public side, there are plenty of large projects for which you'll be staffed on for long periods of time. Based on my interactions with the partners in those areas they all seem like good people. Commercial (former Navigant) continues to grow like crazy and we have a lot more variety in project duration and complexity. We do a ton of cleanup where MBB or Big 4 came in, gave strategies that were not realistic in the market, and then we get invited in to fix things and give strategies that they can actually execute. That's why we got the KLAS recognition. Most of the partners and that side are good with a few exceptions.
We work cross public and commercial sector projects so it’s not a bright line between the two.
I am in GH Public Health group - Operational Effectiveness. I see a lot of hate for GH here so just adding my perspective. I have a great team & manager who’s constantly in touch, cares a great deal about my development, and is actively working to give me opportunities for progression.
I’m an SC with 5 YOE in industry and I came in at $125K base. Assuming I do well this year I will make a case for Manager at the end of the performance cycle.
Like every other company on the planet your mileage may vary. If you end up with a shit manager, get staffed to a BS project no one wants to contribute to, or have an unappeasable client you’re going to have a bad time. If you’re interested in the role go interview with the hiring manager and ask them questions you need answers to on this topic.
Ask us in March after bonuses have gone out. I mean they say we’re doing well but that will tell.
They cut our benefits every month, no joke.
Health sector teams are pretty nice overall though and the partners are great. Only speaking for public health, no knowledge on commercial
OP, they’re good. Plus all levels can earn bonuses.
Cant speak specifically to that group, but I would avoid GH in general. Benefit cuts from new PE ownership and high turnover in some groups.
Not my experience. SCs coming over from Deloitte say the compensation is strong. Benefits are typical.
They interviewed me, including some senior folks and they ghosted me. It’s a strategy to get more information of what other firms are doing
We hire plenty of people from
Deloitte. Sorry you were ghosted—many were not.
They dont do strategy lol. I'd avoid them. Very toxic leadership.
I enjoy my team, the unlimited PTO, and the strategy work. I suppose we might not be on the same “level” as Deloitte or PwC (though we recently were PwC so ?) but we certainly compete and win work from them, pay a healthy salary, and have a good reputation ...so whatever.
Word to the wise, this place is a joke. I’m on my way my out. Source: Managing Consultant on a peak account
Can you give more information? Why specifically are you leaving and where are you looking to go?
It's really team/office dependent. Where would you be?
