Leaving 😬
For my pcos ladies on metformin, interesting news article. Be careful out there. The good news I hear is that metformin leaves the body pretty quickly so in 2 days you won't have it in you anymore. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/victoriaforster/2020/04/05/researchers-warn-that-covid-19-treatment-t

According to you, what is the biggest misconception about Corp Dev?
Appreciate the insight! Thank you
Do you expect to stay with this company after sponsor exits? Either way, how do you think about that / how does it influence how you perceive the role and your objectives/development?
Interesting, helpful knowing your goals for context on this
What sort of background do you need for Corp Dev? (Sorry for the naïve question. 10YOE trying to chart my way out of consulting and struggling past Product Management.)
If you're still in consulting then I'd try to get DD experience (especially commercial DD) - that's probably the most traditional route in.
What is one of the most challenging things about your role? And what is something you really enjoy about it?
Specific challenges would be getting board members and investors to support a deal you like but they don't - takes a fair amount of work and communication. Also - getting time with bankers and advisors when you're a small company can be challenging if they don't think you'll be valuable for them, so you need to be careful when articulating what you want in requesting meetings etc (or rely on your investors for the intros)
Is it really a huge drop of comp compared to IB
To be clear though, it's not 9-5. I generally work 9-7, and more like 8-12 (with maybe 1 or 2 weekend days) for up to a month at a time in DD.
What’s ur total comp
I'm on $120k base plus a 30% bonus, plus some incentives tied to exit (cash bonus rather than equity - plan to renegotiate this in the future). Comp can vary wildly though if you're in the UK - I've seen people with significantly less and significantly more at similar levels.
