What’s Opus London like?
Hello folks,
Looking for some honest advice. Considering an offer with SocGen B’lore for Specialist Software Engineer position with 5.5 years exp and into Tech service management. Could you please tell me a bit about following points?
- 25% of the compensation(5Lakhs) is Variable. Does company even pay 60% of it at the end of the year if you perform say 4/5 rating?
- What is an average annual hike that the firm gives?
- How is the work culture and LGBTQ inclusionpolicy? Société Générale
What is the culture like, type of work and reputation of Capco in the Data & Analytics space?
I have some good ex colleagues who moved over there and also looked up on LinkedIn and see lots of seemingly smart and accomplished people in their D&A team in the UK.
I'll ask my ex colleagues too, but wanted to see if people here have any opinion or information on this too.
TIA

Love it. Doesn’t really feel like, “IBM” at all. Has more of a startup feel. We do a lot of Digital Strategy work, Customer Experience, UX/UI, etc.
the culture is good, the people are mostly extremely friendly and vested in helping the overall practice and people succeed.
Sure.. On the Advertising bowl, a lot of UX Designers and Strategists (and some creatives) basically felt IBM iX was basically not that forward thinking and progressive in its work and approach. Too tech or executional, lacking strong creative and strategic vision. Granted they were more from more of a design and agency world, but they weren't impressed at all. I believe most said they left after two years. Of course this being the consulting bowl, folks here may have different frame of reference.
^ I think this persons account broke 😅 or maybe mine because I can’t see their title or anything.
I can totally agree with what they said though, and there’s definitely a huge difference between Agency and Consulting. Also keep in mind - IBM being as big as it is, there will always be politics that govern any processes, regardless of how much we try to model our workings after a “startup”
I’ve worked at both consultancy and ad agency on the creative side and I can say that consultants completely undervalue creative and in most case absolutely cannot distinguish the difference between good and great creative. This includes the creative directors. But on the agency side, their understanding of business is rudimentary at best. They just want to do creative for the sake of creative and brag about 1,000,000 YouTube views as a metric of business success. The cultures are way too different to coexist no matter what the consultancies who have acquired agencies will tell you. At least the way they are doing it.
^ sorry I’ve been out of pocket , juggling a lot right now. CD1 is spot on 100%.
I’d be careful though OP, IX (or at least DS&I) is having project / pipeline issues right now and the bench is huge. I don’t think this would affect you as much, and it could also be great for your growth because if you’re on the sell side and can drive revenue its a great opportunity for your career progression.
Fact is - just know what you’re getting into. Basically are you willing to take a risk and drive something that’s dying, or would you be more comfortable at a more stable company.
Sounds great - thanks for your view @IBM1
Anytime 👍
If you need more insight just drop a burner I’d be happy to connect and tell you more of the pros/cons.
I would keep in mind though it is a machine and at the end of the day (however appealing IX is, it’s still a corporate hierarchy plagued with politics) - but we are pretty agile in the things we do compared to other service lines.
That's super of you @IBM1 - will do.
The work either hits you hard or you're keeping the bench toasty. Lots of layoffs recently in iX too even with all this supposed work always coming down the pipeline. 🙄
Interesting... Heard the exact opposite from folks in the Advertising/Agency bowl
Would the last poster elaborate?
IBM dunno why my title broke, but can you elaborate on the difference between agency VS consulting and what is prevalent at iX?
I can't see your title either 😉
Yes would be great to hear a broader view on that too.
