Interviewed for a role at Goldman Sachs and the HR/HCM person asked me what my salary expectations were but she couldn’t give me any idea what the bonus+year end numbers would look like even for the first year. Has anyone else had this experience? I think of compensation as a whole package but being stuck with just a salary number seems restrictive especially in the financial services space.

A recruiter at another B4 gave me a number much lower than what I’m currently making. Should I tell them how much im making now, which is admittantly at the very top of the SC band, or counter with a range that’s more than I’m making? I hesitate to just throw out current salary + 20% bc I’d be asking for almost $190k for a SC role and I know that would be quite a huge ask for a SC @ B4, even for tech
