Interviewing with a company for a high-level role, but none of the (6-7) interviewers are women. Would you be fearful of this? How would you address the lack of diversity in an interview ?

I wouldn’t frame it as a lack of a diversity at the company as a whole simply because I didn’t see diversity on the interview panel. I don’t think “address” is the right word here. I would ask about their diversity initiatives and how that ranks in terms of importance for the company and decide from there if it’s the right fit.

I wouldn’t be fearful and I wouldn’t ask anything about it during the interview. If you get offered the job, you can always follow-up and ask questions about their diversity initiatives. You don’t want to come off sounding accusatory in an interview panel.

Wow, I disagree with most people above. I would be concerned, and I would address it. Perhaps something like “I’ve really enjoyed getting to know all my interviewees so far, but I noticed none were women. How much of the leadership team is female?” Totally reasonable question, and it’s totally reasonable to value diversity, or at least a reasonable men:women ratio. If the company has similar values, they won’t mind the the question. If they have different values, good to know now.

It could be an oversight, it could be a matter of circumstance that no women were available, it could be a number of reasons…but I would absolutely want to know why.

I interviewed for a job where I had similar concerns about diversity (not gender-based though), and I was scared to address it, and I made excuses in my head to make it seem ok, and I took the job and regretted it. The lack of diversity was definitely indicative of a problem (a few problems, actually).

No
And i would not address it during an interview

I wouldn’t be fearful but I would do some research on my own: What does the company look like in terms of diversity overall? Are there other women who are in higher levels but not in the interview panel?

I wouldn’t address it in the interview.

This is 95% of every interview panel I ever had. People are selected for interview panels for a reason and they will most likely be all the people you would working / collaborating with on a day-to-day basis.

I wouldn’t be concerned that none of the interviewers are women but I would be if none of the senior leaders in the company are also women. I have a MS in Computer Science and am often the only woman in technical meetings but I expect there to be other female departments heads. Also check Glass Door, Fishbowl for comments by current and past employees. I once talked to a company and the Glass Door had numerous mentions of “Bro Culture” and other misogynist red flags. So doing your homework can give you a better prospective.

I wouldn’t be fearful, but I’d be curious. Have you looked at the website to see who makes up the executive team? If it’s a concern for you, you could always ask about diversity in general at the company and see where the conversation goes. Asking about diversity is a legitimate interview question/topic.

This was me for my current role. I’m the only female on the executive team and the corporate board. I expressed my thoughts to the external recruiter, but still took the role.

Today, I’m sometimes oblivious the the misogyny and other times it’s loud and clear.

I try not to let it get to me and just kick ass at my job.

Anyone available to review my resume/guide me through this job search? I’ve been applying places for the past 6 months and am not getting responses. Unemployment has run out and I’m starting to crumble under the pressure of bills. Started a new job 7 months ago. There’s been a hiring freeze and it seems they canned the recruitment team. Things seems to be slowing down drastically in the span of a week. Getting the resume all spiffed up and getting interviews together. When do you make the exit? “When you find a job” I know, but…

Also, would me making my exit to another role that I might leave in a 8 months bite me in the ass down the line? Do I just grab anything in the interim?
