I got math part wrong on all of my rounds at first and still got an offer. What they are looking for is not necessarily you getting to the correct answer on the first shot, but more so understanding what number you are trying to find and why you are finding that number, structuring verbally how you are gonna go about finding it, understanding how each data comes into play in getting there/distinguishing between important and nonimportant data, and tying back the number you found to the clien’t goal in the case prompt and verbally branding this numerical answer as a valuable insight for the client
Use RocketBlocks to study
I legitimately bombed the math in 2 of my cases and got an offer for EM

Yup… we don’t care too much about the math. It’s the least important part of the interview
Math was a strong point for me but during one of my final round interviews I completely lost the ability to think and couldn’t figure out which numbers to multiply. Partner ended up laying out the entire calculation for me after seeing me struggle for what seemed like 3-4 mins for sure. Still got the offer
That and I did well in all other parts of the case + no mistakes in the other interview
Lay out the approach first step by step and then plug in numbers
Knowing the right approach and finding valuable insights is more important than the actual math mechanics
now venmo me 20 bucks
I got my math wrong in 2 rounds and still got an offer. The first round was bad and got the answer wrong two times. 2nd round was purely qualitative and saved my ass. I managed to impress the interviewer there. 3rd round added an extra zero to my final answer and the interviewer jokingly corrected it
I struggled, but you can work your way through it. Did math drills every day, practiced worded math questions and then practiced cases too. Ended up accepting an offer at BCG and since Ieaving the firm a few years later I now do case coaching on the side with a specialisation in supporting people build up math skills 👍
I am awful at math and I’m here. Rocket blocks was my saving grace as well as having people randomly ask me math questions. Lots of YouTube videos for math tricks as well.
