Yes, that’s fair. Speaking from a b4 mcol in M&A tax. Most managers start around 150 and make it to 180/190 before senior manager and then break 200 as senior manager. Reminding everyone who reads this comment, it’s for mcol.
Yes, jd/llm still makes more, but the difference is shrinking as you make it up the levels. I was easily 20k+ compared to my peers as a staff/senior and it’s gotten smaller as I made it up the levels.
JD/LLM or CPA? Assuming your experience is in compliance, if you’re a CPA it’s in the ballpark but if JD sounds low

That’s about right. I had 3 YOE when I switched from asset management partnership compliance to M&A as an S1 and came in at $105k in MCOL as a CPA. That was in 2021 so there’s been some salary inflation since then but it was post-COVID so still comparable.
As a first-year manager at 115k in Big 4 international tax, sounds like a steal
