This is rage bait, right?
Why would it be? Can someone genuinely rant or get opinions from others who might be in a similar situation? What forum should one ask someone’s opinion?
Are you really asking 290k is a decent salary? Look at statistics and check where you stand now. This should give you very clear answer if it’s a decent at age 36. Are you comparing yourself to other higher incomes? Then your life is just miserable. Your salary will never be decent.
It’s many times over the HHI of all MCOL cities and also HCOL cities
So it is “decent”? That depends on your spending habits, quality of life and what exactly your financial goals are. You make more than vast majority of people . But there are people who make significant more than you. So it’s a very personal question
I truly want to be financially independent. Like I would quit if I had $20 mil in my bank account lol. I want to travel the world and truly spend time with family ( wife and 2 kids) But I know to get there I’ll have to sacrifice. I just don’t know if I should quit and start working on something. I have an app idea. I’m thinking if I should just vibe code it and engage a friend who wants to work with me. But all in all I don’t have motivation to keep going with my job or any 9-5 for the matter of fact. My only fear is I fail miserably and exhaust my savings and investements and am not able to give the life to my children that they deserve.
Do you guys feel you’re ok doing your 9-5 especially with the AI era we live in and most of the jobs are going to be obsolete and we will have universal basic income.
It’s just overwhelming times all in all.
If you don't know what you want to do, I don't understand what the problem is. If you think you could start a business, but you don't know what it would be, there's a good chance it wouldn't be successful. Perhaps you need to take the five years of savings and go forth in the world and contemplate and decide how you wish to make your dent in the universe.
that must be typo. 29k is actual answer.
I suppose it depends on what is important to you? Is it having more disposable income? Or is it doing something in your 9-5 that you find fulfilling?
Your expectations are 0.01% while you are 0.1%.
I used to be in the same boat until I went the entrepreneurial route. I think you’d do extremely well in our industry and you’d be able to have full ownership/create your own agency. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in learning more. It’s an opportunity I said yes to a year ago.
