You’re definitely not alone. Some leaders are pushing AI use because they see it as “efficient” or forward-thinking but in practice, it can actually slow things down, especially for straightforward emails you could write in 2 minutes yourself.
A few ideas that might help:
Clarify expectations: Ask whether AI is required for every message or just more complex communications.
Position it around efficiency: You could say something like, “For quick internal replies, I can respond faster directly. For more formal or external messaging, I’m happy to use AI.”
Create templates instead: If consistency is the goal, reusable templates may be more efficient than generating fresh AI drafts every time.
AI should be a tool, not an obstacle. If it’s tripling your time, that’s worth a calm, solutions-focused conversation.
If you’d like, I can also help you draft a professional way to bring this up to your boss without sounding resistant.
No, I'm doing it on my own. I'm a terrible writer and find it super useful. Which platform are you using? I've had decent luck with Claude. Might be worth checking out if you're unhappy with the current output. It's not perfect, but far better than Chat GPT in my opinion.
Some have but I do my thing. I use it for emails and it’s been helping. We have copilot.
We have Copilot and just got the license for ChatJPT. We are not obligated to use but encouraged. I only use it to draft emails to clients because English is my 2nd language. For short emails, no. I don’t see the need.
It’s been highly suggested, but I’ve not been given any guidelines or ideas on how I could use AI in my job. I’m not really interested in learning if I’m not going to pay to teach me.
