The value varies based on individual circumstances. If you’re young and healthy and relatively broke, just fly coach. But if you’re getting older, bad back or whatever, with more resources, first is easier to justify.
For domestic or even a medium-haul international (ie JFK/LHR), I don't need it. But for a longer haul flight, it's SO worth it to me.
It's not just about the lie flat seat and it's certainly not about the champagne for me. It's how it makes the whole travel experience (which is generally miserable) so much more palatable.
You've got your own check-in line, so that's quick, you often have your own dedicated security line, most of the international lounges are fantastic. I love taking showers on layovers to freshen up, getting a good meal, relaxing, etc, and then being able to board/deplane right away is clutch.
And then on top of all of that, you've got the pod, the lie flat seat, the amenity kit, the ability to sleep.
Granted, I usually use points rather than paying cash, but it's totally worth it to me.
For me? No. I'd rather invest my $$$ in the destination. But I think if I was flying more frequently, I'd be more inclined to spend the money.
Honestly for a few thousand I’ll purchase it lol. it’s more about my anxiety of the general public and being in business makes my vacation an enjoyable experience from the start vs dreading the travel day. If my fiance and I have a luxury trip planned, def. Going on a quick girls trip for less $, probs will pass.
The first time I was bumped to first class, I thought it was nice already having a small bottled water waiting for me and the roomier seat all to myself. But I don’t need to board early and all the other stuff they try to sell us on. I only care about having an aisle seat to work out the pains from sitting so definitely don’t need to be boarded first. But everyone has their own needs. I’m good with economy most of the time 👌🏽
It depends on how you want to spend your money.
