By the time they get thru the post office and arrive there they’ll have hired someone else
Weird
An email will do
Send a quick email right after the interview and put a card in the mail the same day
Honestly, it can’t hurt to send it. Even if it is slow, the job is given to someone else, it could pay off in the future. Your name is in front of them at least one more time and you add positive points in your career karma stock.
I’m a handwritten card type. If there’s something I wanted to clarify or add to from the interview, I send an email as well.
Do what comes naturally to you. It (and I) may be old fashioned but the last two times I did it I received an offer.
Handwritten notes never carried any weight. Just like emails don't carry any weight. It's always been about your book and the interview(s).
But I did get one recently, and thought, "Hey, look at that. Someone who gives a shit enough to spend 3 minutes actually writing, with a pen." She also sent an email. She didn't get the job because someone else had a better book. But if it's between two equally good books, and two equally good people, it certainly couldn't hurt. And I will remember her if something comes open again that matches her skill set.
Wtf is “interofficed”? Can we speak like humans and not office robots
I did handwritten early in my career and got an email a few weeks later that one of the people who interviewed me (hiring manager) had just gotten it because it was sitting in their mailbox that they never check. So I’d suggest email so it doesn’t look like you didn’t send a thank you.
I hand wrote a note and had it overnighted.
It got me the job.
It was between me and someone else and they chose me because of the handwritten letter. Nine years later I met my old MD who hired me and he brought it up...
Last gal I interviewed had a hand written thank you interofficed to me before she had even left the building. Amazing.
@SW1 that's a little aggressive (not to mention creepy)
I have heard of people leaving handwritten notes with the receptionist
Sad to say but handwritten notes no longer carry any weight.
Literally just mail???
Find their home address. Send it there.
@Starcom I absolutely hate that. Tells me they aren’t thoughtful or reflective, and everything in the letter is generic bullshit from before we even spoke
I mean, if you’re a calligrapher or something I’d say go for it.
I sent one - got me the job but that was 10 years ago...
