Ive gone back and forth between the two quite a bit. I find that the process is more or less the same: find great insights and use that as the foundation for everything that follows. In my opinion, brand planning can actually be easier because youre the first step vs having to build from someone else's strategy and find a way to insert digital. Youre also not forced into specific mediums the way you are in digital.
That said, its a bit headier and less tactical than digital strategy. I personally love this but it depends on you and your style.
i have. it’s pretty similar; but the majority of your time will shift from how the campaign happens - ergo tactical stuff - to where the brand is and where it should/can go. there’s a bit more abstract thinking and imagination involved, which is fun. the downside is that as a digital strategist you’re much closer to the creative work, which won’t be necessarily the case.
