LinkedIn is largely useless and filled with toxic positivity. I mostly use it for job postings. Outside of that, the feed is a “work” version of instagram, sprinkled in some posts trying to be profound. Comments section is even worse with low-thought spam replies glazing the OP. When I see a post with short form paragraphing, I brace myself to read something that will probably make me roll my eyes

I never post as it makes me want to barf, but I'll use a link to my profile on resumes, applications, etc.
No, it's not just you. I've had people reach out to me about post I've made or commented on and I get left on read or completely unanswered. I've actually called people out for it. I value connections as well, but LinkedIn is nothing more than Instagram in a suit.

That’s really frustrating, especially when someone reaches out first and then goes silent. It makes the whole idea of building connections feel pretty hollow. Calling it Instagram in a suit honestly sums it up perfectly.
I hate the game, but I still play it. Just like the standard application process. I do my three posts or comments every week and my profile is optimized. I do get recruiters reaching out here and there. It feels like I have to hold my nose, and post/comment sometimes. Compared to applying, I see it as a better return on my time and effort.

Thanks for sharing! This is super helpful!! I might need to look into the private groups to stay under the radar lol.
I was just thinking the same thing. It is like the "Everything is Fine" meme. It is creepy to scroll and see people talk like they are trying to be motivational coaches while the job market keeps getting tighter and the AI arms race is in full swing.
Job searching right now is using AI to get past the AI the company uses to filter applicants, to finally interview at a company that is actively using AI to cut the number of positions they are posting.

There’s always been these people, but I think the normal people have given up on LinkedIn making the performative posts more visible.

So performative
Glassdoor is the new LNKD.

I swear most of it lately is founders trying to become influencers. I guess that’s one way to market your product… I’ve noticed many high-ranking professionals don’t even bother with LinkedIn

Haha, the influencer part is so true! It really does feel like a lot of founders are using LinkedIn as a personal brand platform now.
im struggling finding work, can any one suggest me where i can apply

Besides LinkedIn, I've tried Glassdoor and Indeed!
I enjoy it! Got a few interviews from it in the past and recruiters definitely reached out more - not like now
