I think people Are becoming more and more scared of touching anything for fear of being blamed for some massive outage or data breach. Irrational? Yes. But people are generally stupid.
I've noticed that too. My theory is that because tech is generally more reliable people forget the basic troubleshooting stuff that you used to need to do once or twice a day. Very much an out of sight, out of mind thing.
Anecdotally I used to need to do a battery pull on my Blackberry every few days, now I restart my iPhone once a month. Now when my iPhone is locking up it takes me a few minutes before I realize a restart would help.
OP - I think this question misses the mark entirely...
Consumers are expecting 99.9% uptime, so you can’t fault them for not wanting to reboot their device ...
What kind of IT staff aug project are you working on that makes you able to fix 15-20 incidents per week by manually rebooting?
Probably a company with 2k+ employee's

Legit don’t understand when ppl 🔥 so hard on this app but I will just guess you’re grumpy about something else
Seriously though. They’ve bogged our machines down with so much shit they spend half their ram or whatever doing that shit so you can’t run ppt and excel at the same time 🔥🤬🔪
Look at it like cars too. Since 07 the US has mandated TPMS and I bet most US drivers under the age of 30 don't know what their tire pressures should be, or how to check with a gauge. The light comes on and they panic and go to the dealer. This was a self-solved issue 20 years ago
I fully support if you have AAA! 😂
My fun car (i.e., non-running, perpetual project, but sometimes autox car when running) is Merkur XR4Ti, so I fully support 80s RWD turbo cars that give you the biggest smile. I've now outed who I am as I'm likely the only BCGer with one 😂
Good point on the galvanizing. I've worked on a few 325s that had trunks rotted out by the batteries.
