Is it normal for healthcare interviews to move this slowly? I applied in December, interviewed twice in January, and was told decisions are waiting on budget approval. The role pays $85K and oversees a team of 15. How long do you wait before moving on?

That doesn't sound all that crazy to me, especially given when you applied. December is hectic everywhere, which slows things down significantly. Keep applying to other jobs, but don't give up on this one. Maybe they're flaking out, but they could just as easily be getting held up by approvals.

Since I’m transitioning to massage therapy to looking to be in front desk/receptionist especially in the clinical space, I’m noticing employers are ghosting some candidates. I’m getting ghosted, even leaving thank you follow up messages, (which is something I am just now doing) and then I would get my response from ones who are professionally turning me down. I have my mindset kinda old school because I’ve been a massage therapist for 6/7 years now. It was easy to getting any massage therapy job because it’s not as competitive, the only thing is hands on work. Now I’m back in the market for front desk/receptionist, it’s confusing. I give most employers that typical 24/48 hours or a week to tell me if they want me, and then I use that “thank you,” follow up after I get an interview to check in. In short, all I’m trying to say is, just go “old school,” send a follow up email as a “thank you for the interview, if you need anything here’s my info,” and if they do or need more time, depending on your urgency. I mean 85K doesn’t sound bad but if it’s taking too long, I’d question it a bit on the silence. Do your pros and cons on the position and to the waiting. Hopefully this isn’t discouraging, if it ends up being that way. I hope you end up getting it tho! Rooting for you!

Wow 15 people for $85k. That is crazy

I think that seems normal to me, especially if you interviewed in January and are awaiting

Sadly yes. I actually have waited 10 months to be started at a job I signed a contract with.

This kind of sounds like how the government operates. I work for the VA and they can take months to get someone offered and onboarded. Sometimes they’ll even rescind an offer after the person has a start date.

I realized I've been a dummy for getting a job at a creative agency and not working on my portfolio. Most of the projects I've taken on, I've done so as a way to support others without taking much credit for it. Now, a better opportunity came along and I don't have anything to show for my talent as a designer. ALWAYS take credit for what you do, even if it's not your project to begin with.
