Is it pointless to apply for jobs over the weekend? Is my application going to get buried?

I always wonder about that myself. I assume there's a queue that things go into and someone checks it on Monday. But if it's something I really want, I'll do the application on Monday morning, just to make sure it hits fresh. Which may make no sense, I know. I've seen people talk about different days and which ones are best to apply on, but I don't know if any of that is grounded in reality.

I don't really think when you apply matters that much, with the only exception being applying around Christmas time. I do think that the end of December and the beginning of January tends to be a pretty dead zone for HR. But recruiters and hiring managers review things when they review them, not necessarily when they are submitted. So if you apply on a Friday night and they review them the next week, it doesn't really matter.

like

A recruiter friend once told me that weekends are when they catch up on reviewing resumes. You might actually land near the top of the pile if they check first thing Monday. I’d say apply when you’re ready, not when the clock says it’s “ideal.” Your timing won’t matter nearly as much as your story.

like

I have heard Tuesday is the day with the most new job postings. Generally speaking, the faster you can get in, the better, but not all of us can do that. Also, with how many applications are submitted for *every* position, I don’t think there’s much safeguarding against it getting buried.

like

Not at all! Many recruiters review applications on Monday mornings, and weekend submissions can land you at the top of the stack. Just make sure your resume and keywords are on point - timing helps, but content still wins.

Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction. I don’t want to waste time (colleagues mentioned it doesn’t get much better from here). Do I embrace the suck or look for other opportunities?

Anybody else noticed recruiters are only proactively reaching out about hybrid/on-site roles nowadays?

It's almost as if people don't want to be in offices anymore so that's why it's difficult for them to fill those roles.
Sidenote: recruiters, you can see on my LI profile that I'm remote. In the "What jobs are you interested in" field you can see I'm only interested in remote roles.
So, why are you reaching out to me about jobs in a city 3 hours away that's 100% onsite and w/out even a ReLo?

I'd appreciate any success stories or pointers you can offer in regards to this transition.

Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.
