I’m currently a fifth year and can’t imagine a firm not wanting you back, maybe with a one year haircut as a sweetener so you have time to catch up. I just lateraled (ECVC) and fifth years are very much in demand at the moment, particularly if you can do cap markets as well as 34 Act stuff. Good luck!
It is hard to come back to biglaw from inhouse, but Biglaw would take back someone who took a break from biglaw. Puzzling.

If there’s a need, yes, it’s possible.

It’s possible, although they might dock you a class year or two given the gap in work. Definitely apply places and try reaching out to any partners or senior associates you used to work with for help breaking through the initial screeners

The easiest route will be your previous firm.
Mid Law may be another pathway, and then you can return to Big Law after 1-2 years.
Networking is key here. Don’t be shy, and don’t let recruiters or naysayers discourage you. It can be done.
