Was it all Tokyo-drift kitted out? Otherwise a stock M3 is perfectly respectable to be seen in by colleagues.
Now for clients, you may need to rent something depending on their sensibilities…
It’s an M3, not a Ferrari. Just drive it and enjoy a reliable sedan with snappy performance.
Im from Africa. Calling a BMW reliable gives me chills.
It’s an M3, not a Rimac. Hell, I drive my Urus to work.
Yes it’s weird
The whole point of an M3 is that it looks like a 3 Series to most people. They’ve made it a bit more aggro in recent years but still, 99% of people won’t be able to tell and the 1% who can will like it.
Unrelated….I was in the BMW CCA and went to their autocrosses two or three times a year. One day, a bone stock Tesla showed up and got the lowest time for the day. At the next meet, another Tesla showed up, and the two teslas both got the lowest and second lowest scores. Complete noob autocrosseers. They were destroying the M3’s because you just can’t compete with that “always in the right gear” torque curve
After that, the entire region banned EVs from their events. They just couldn’t compete with an entry level Tesla in an autocross and it was ruining the car culture
I used to love M3s and it was my dream car for years…but now every time I see them I think of those M3’s losing to beginner drivers
I have a Tesla and was a petrol head for years, I’ve had Audi, BMW, Subaru, all in go faster spec. My m3 long range corners like my wrx did, only let down is the brakes are a bit wooden. Having masses of instant torque even at high speed as well as the spaceship feeling makes up for the lack of noise. Sticking it in autopilot in traffic makes it a commuters dream at the same time
That’s like…opposite of how consultants operate
Where do you work? M3s around here are like Camrys
Wait it’s an e93??? I’m changing my answer. You’re INSANE for getting rid of that naturally aspirated V8. Not a day will go by that you won’t miss those 400 German Clydesdales redlining at 8400…
If they say something you repeat “it’s a naturally aspirated V8 RWD muscle car that just happens to be from Germany.”
When you have to advise on the title of a car that you have. Be grateful you can purchase a big ticket item like that. Information like this should be kept to yourself. People don't care what you have and are going to judge you regardless!!!!!!
Your boss sounds jealous and judgemental. Not a good look. They have zero clue how the cleaning person got their car, nor should they care. Don't worry about what people think. That is their problem, not yours.

I’m no longer in consulting, but I work in a tier 2 city at commercial real estate bank as an analyst on a trading team and everyone in the office is super judgmental. My senior boss drives like a 14’ A6, my jr boss drives a truck I’m not sure what but his wife picked us up from dinner in this like 03’ Grand Cherokee. The last guy on our team who’s the associate trader drives an old Hyundai. I love nice cars, growing up my family was fortunate enough to have 911s, range rovers, Lexuses, AMGs etc…but it felt awkward going to work dinners and parking far away from the location to avoid them seeing my e93 m3, so I got an old Lexus gx

Also part the reason why I was sensitive about it was because my senior boss specifically brought up one day that our office building maintenance lady who gets paid way less than us drove past him in a convertible bmw, and made it seem like it was such a big deal in a negative mocking way.
It’s an M3, not Racan
Anyone looking for a graphic designer platform chat me up on Whatapp +1 (770) 523‑6141 only chat please
Be blessed you have a reliable and safe car to drive. Seriously!

I am very blessed and lucky. Since you brought that up, what part of what I said makes it seem like I’m not?
Provided that there's a good reason why you did it, no it's not weird. It's not uncommon for folks who own Aston Martins to maintain an old Prius for everyday use in areas of town where the AM would attract too much attention. Same thing.
Yea that’s kind of weird. M3s really aren’t too flashy, and to most people they will just see another bmw sedan.
It’s not like you’re rolling up in a g wagon or a Porsche or something. I knew of a partner who owned a g wagon and a 911, but when he went to client sites, he drove an older Subaru Outback that I am fairly confident he bought solely for optics. You don’t want to roll up to a client to discuss fees in a 150k car.
I had a colleague who did this because he had a new
911, trouble was he picked a Maserati coupe as the cover up car. You don’t need to hide the M3 though, no one will batt an eyelid unless you work for green peace
Are your clients coming to the work events? If not then I don't see the issue with the M3. I don't know your age, but I am 53 and at this point in my life wouldn't really care what any co-workers thought of my car. It's a lesson I had to learn for myself though, not caring what others think of me. I would rather be true to myself and be accepted on that level than to pretend I am something or like something to appease anyone else, especially coworkers.
Yes. It's weird. What you drive has no bearing on your ability to do a job. I drive a 2002 f350 diesel. Yes it's big, loud, and has rust. But I like it. It gets me to work on time. That's all that matters.
It's weird that you posted this. A bit of an ego is how it comes across. Get over yourself. An M3. LOL.
Well thank you! Sweet.
No it's not weird. I got ragged all the time because I lived near our CEO. Granted it was an exclusive area. It was hard to build relationships. Everyone assumed that I wouldn't want to be around anyone who didn't live where I lived, which wasn't true.
