Hahahahaha I would HATE to work with some who still clings on to their Mensa.
FWIW, you don’t need to be super smart to do this job, there’s more important skills to have
Lmao good to know. I've always been a bit dubious of it and had a suspicion it would give off the wrong impression
For the record I'm not one of those people who tried to join, I did it years ago in school and if anything it's only made me think IQ is not a hugely valuable metric 🤣
You can make a case for putting it on your CV if you're showing some kind of leadership and are actually achieving something, but yeah it's perceived as odd.
That said I know senior people (including a partner or former partner) who did so I don't think it's radioactive, but in that case why not network with other members directly.
If you're just a member, I wouldn't put it on your resume. If you qualify but are not a member, that's ridiculous.
-Ex MBB, Mensa eligible if that makes my opinion sound any smarter
Yeah, if all you do is show up to events it's a bit like putting "member of the Knightsbridge neighbourhood association". Who cares/weird brag
Honestly, I think best case is they don’t care and worst case it puts them off. Just my thoughts.
Yeah fair enough that seems like the general consensus
As someone who also joined in school and then left once membership was no longer free, if I saw this come in on a CV it would give me a strong negative impression of the person's judgement and self-awareness. Your ability to do V&NV reasoning quizzes at high speed some years ago is not a useful indicator of your suitability for a consulting role.
