Was just in Delhi - you have to ask to know for sure and most places I went didn’t know unfortunately. But most major fast food spots source halal chicken
Do you expecting cow meat?
Doubt it. Also they don't eat cows, it might be illegal
Thank god for that…anyone with associate 1’s narrow minded thought process shouldn’t step outside their own community, let alone visit an entirely different country.
They have many muslim populations many restaurants sell halal like mutton meat but not cows
No, but a lot of places are. You can ask
Usually it is, but im not sure about more rural areas / areas with smaller muslim population
We indians do eat cows btw, it's just a water buffalo. Cows are sacred in Hinduism and is very punishable, but the water buffalo tastes similar. Additionally, many of the butchers are Muslim bc that's their industry.
When traveling in India with my family, I was never told to not eat the meat. Additionally, if you want to be vegetarian for a day...Indian food is the best for it!
What y'all aren't realizing is that India is deeply rooted in the caste system AND
Hindus.do.not.eat.meat. so why would they participate in something that is considered "haram" to them????????? For those here that say working at a bank is haram, bc of interest , it's the same exact thing.
If it's a small establishment, the meat comes from a Muslim (majority) or Sikh butchery. My family is from N.India (UP), comes from a semi-conservative household, and was never told not to eat the meat.
South India might be different, but I would only eat vegetarian dishes in S.India bc that's their specialty
Tldr;
N.India = Muslim dense areas => eat meat.
S.India (except Bombay/Bangalore/ Hyderabad) = less Muslims => eat veggies, dosa, idili, fish.
Also India has a Muslim population that is 20% of 1.3 Billion....that's a lot.
I don't disagree with you. I'm saying statistically (keyword) there's less Muslim in the south v north.
I also personally prefer South Indian vegetarian and seafood dishes.🤷🏾♂️
There is good availability of halal meat throughout India. However, some cities and states will have more halal meat restaurants and some will have less. Similarly some states allow beef and some don't. It's good to ask in advance.
OP, let us know what cities you are visiting. Answers will be more helpful.
