Easier to do now than later.
You’ll enjoy it, but do take the time to think about the future.
I have seen a lot of late 20s early 30s take breaks and they are usually just running away from a life they cannot find meaning in. But they don’t find it on a beach in Thailand. They just burn through their money and pick up where they left off.
People can still be unhappy whilst married with family, ZS1, but past a certain age, it’s less likely than for singles. Men and women, particularly the latter during their late years. Just based on pure stats and polls/reports.
No, it’s no different than talking 3-6 months off when you have a child for parental leave.
What are you doing with that time? If you are using the time to do something significant, it is fine. If you aren’t advancing yourself, though, it isn’t wise.
My personal view is that the hardest you wanna work is between your 20 and 30s. Little to no responsibilities probably no kids maybe be a girlfriend/ boyfriend.
Go work 80 hours a week make a shit ton of money, get into upper management and then you can pretty much coast in your mid 30s 40s and 50s. Buy a nice house have kids not worry about money and retire on time.
Now I’m not saying this sabbatical is gonna mess up that timeline but I’d rather work really hard during my 20s so I don’t have to do that in my 30s.
You can always take a sabbatical later in life
No
Guess it depends on the hiring manager or if you have a good story to tell on why. Some hiring manager see things like that as your weak and could not deal with things. But that does not have to be the case. What were you doing during that period of time? Living in a country to learn about their culture and language? Spin it on what you got out of the adventure to a positive experience. You could also blog/vlog your experience and then say you were self employed.
To me I would say if you can afford it then do it, that may not be the case later in life.
Absolutely do it
