Is there a body in your geographic area regulate CTE Programs, such as through an approval or accreditation process? Do you feel that they’re supportive or just compliance gremlins?

New York State manages our approval process, but the district office for New York City runs the compliance part. In recent years they’ve become more supportive, but it still appears to stem from a perspective of compliance, ergo “Checking the Box”.

In MA, DESE (Dept of Elementary and Secondary Education) has a CTE dept. to handle approvals and accreditation for CTE programs here in the state. For the most part I thought they were supportive when I was setting up a new program. My CTE licensing was more of a box checking affair, as they wouldn’t recognize my M.Ed as sufficient because it was not CTE specific. I had to take another 7 classes that was equivalent to another M.Ed, and they were almost exactly like before! At least I got tuition reimbursement from my district, and I was able to count the credits to salary lane advancement.

Hey folks, I am new here. Need some advice. The situation is, I just have 6 months of work ex. A week before, I was retained by my company against an offer with almost 80% hike. Though there are no legal implications, the management has warned me against moving out for at least 6 more months. And yesterday I received a c2h offer from Deloitte. In a dilemma because obviously Deloitte is something I can't say no to. Any advices?

Hi! I am currently an Early Childhood Teacher, but I am interested in becoming an Early Childhood Education instructor at a technical high school. Does anyone else struggle with accommodations and modifications for your CTE classes? I teach complex business classes such as accounting and management and I have a few moderate SPED students who can’t handle basic information and skills.
