I’ve been told most companies have their own recruiters
Most companies have their own internal recruiting/talent management departments, or HR personnel that act as recruiters. In house hiring is not like the lateral law firm process where a third party recruiter represents you/presents you to multiple firms. It can actually hurt or kill your candidacy to be “represented” if the role is not accepting third party submissions. I’ve only seen that “representation” setup work well at the executive or GC level. The majority of in house roles get plenty of qualified applicants, there’s no reason for a company to pay a third party recruiter fee.
Some companies will engage a third party recruiter for specific roles, but this is mostly for higher level/executive level roles, or roles in hard to fill geographies or niche practice areas. But that recruiter or recruiting shop only has that one role, or maybe a few roles they’re trying to fill for multiple clients.
If I understand correctly, you’d have to look for firms with in-house recruiting first. You can search online with your location + in-house recruiter.
Yeah I think that most medium and large companies have their own. It's only small businesses that don't. I think you just have to identify companies you're interested in and seek out their talent team.
Just start to form a lot of connections with attorneys who were in House, eventually they’ll start asking you to start recruiting for their teams, and then once you’re on HR‘s list, they will use you forever.
