Is this a good salary? 10 years of experience, commercial litigation, HCOL area. Hourly rate somewhere north of 500/hour. 1750 hours target. Total base salary $170k, hourly bonus of $20k, maybe further bonus beyond that (discretionary, unclear).

Under $200k seems nuts to me

like

I was already offered $225k at another firm but it was a practice area within commercial lit that I didn’t want to do. $170k would be a pay cut for me

like

I would use the offer from the other firm to negotiate with the firm you want

like

I feel like this is such a lowball it’s in bad faith and I don’t want to work for these people either way

like

If they’re billing you out at $500 an hour, your salary should be close to $300k.

likefunny

$500x1,750= $875,000; $875,000 / 3 =~$291,000. $170 is too low

likehelpful

That’s rough for 10yoe in HCOL. I’m at 6yoe and make $225k base with a 25% bonus working 9-5, no evenings or weekends. Expecting a bump to around $230k base next year and will get an equity grant next year too.

No

Base is low. Negotiate up if you can.

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

Hi -

So I got hired to build out the data function of my company. But I’ve noticed that there are certain leadership members that don’t seem to respect my function nor think data is that important. Has anybody faced this problem? Any advice?

I’m on the Board of entity A (volunteer basis) and I’ll have an interview for a legal counsel position at entity B. Entity A and B have a partnership such that me working for entity B will create conflict of interest. Should I disclose my relationship with entity A during the initial interview with entity B’s hiring manager? If so, what should I say? I don’t want my volunteer job at entity A potentially jeopardizes my full-time job at entity B.
