I love 1k for multiple reasons, but the best perk has been the ability to switch flights for free, within 24 hours of booking. Allows me to book the cheapest flight around that time range, then switch the day of. Case in point: not only was I able to switch my flight home to an earlier one for the Thanksgiving holiday, I saved ~$150 and got upgraded to first class. 1K FTW
Yeah, just trying to work out whether it’s worth switching allegiance from Delta. I have diamond and already got 75k MQMs to roll over so want to make sure I keep diamond in the bag also. Trying to be greedy and get top tier on two airlines!
Fly whichever airlines gives you upgrades :)
In my case... I moved from an American hub to a united hub. Direct flights to client site beat a connection any day. Points and upgrades are nice ... but I’ll sit in 63J if it means a direct flight to the client site. In any event, I did the status match in April so that hitting the match got me 2 years of status( this was 2 years ago) and this year I’m giving up exp. with the direct flight to client sites, the grass is certainly greener and was worth it for me.
1k won’t get you much at a firm. Our negotiated tickets are always a lower fare and this limit upgrades. I do love getting a free drink and boarding group 1. In Houston everyone and their mother has a united credit card giving them group 2 boarding.
6k in 6 months is nothing. If traveling every week that’s like 1-2 months of plane tickets

I think complimentary Delta One upgrades starting 1st April are the deal breaker. Do you expect to travel any of the routes where you can constantly get upgraded to Delta One?
Thanks all - sounds like it’s worth it if I can get all / most paid for by a project somewhere. I’ll definitely always be doing Delta routes as I travel to Europe 2-3 times a year and do this through New York or Atlanta so Diamond is always useful!
