I use my HYSA for my emergency funds and I have it linked to a checking so I can easily liquidate with a debit card during an emergency
Some people don’t use them because they don’t hold much in cash or because the pay so little now, they are not worth it. It is up to you if you want your checking at the same place. No idea what your preferences are as far as branches, etc

I use it to hold my emergency fund since I'm pretty risk averse and want that money to be FDIC insured, but also don't want to make $0 in interest. They're good if you have short-term savings goals (e.g. 5 years or less), such as a vacation or large purchase.
This is because 5 years is so short a time, so there's a good chance investing the money in stocks/funds/ETFs will possibly lead to a loss.
