We are paperless. The only time we receive physical papers is either from clients or opposing counsel. Client documents get scanned and returned, all other (non original / wet signature) documents get scanned and shredded. Exhibits & trial binders are kept for the statutory requirement and then are shredded. It is wonderful! We have 3 different electronic processes- 1 for immediate sorting / drafting / quick access file that does not retain everything, 1 that is used to sort /categorize / work from, and another long term storage & archive that gets a copy of everything. It is like inbox > filing cabinet > bankers box. It is incredibly convenient for discovery exchange. Going from paper files to electronic was so relieving. It is much more stream lined and clean.
My last 3 employers were paperless.
Totally paperless. Nearly totally remote too.
