I’m always holding out hope for long form. I think there’ll be a shift in the next 10 years where TikTok and things take a dip and people crave longer form content again.
Would love that to happen!
Art needs long-form. I don't remember who said it, but depth only evolves with time. TV itself was a shortening of attention spans - from film, which was a shortening of attention spans - from literature...
People say its all about short form but how many people you know who binge watched something for nine hours, like yesterday. If its good - people will watch it all for however long.
That's very true! I do feel like short-form content is lower quality however and just keeps people's attention because it's more digestible.
Let people do what they are good @. Track what you can and make a decision 💯
Agree with KPMG1. There is a huge audience out there for long form. It just has to be good. Too many options out there for anyone to waste a lot of time on something that doesn’t warrant it. I really think it’s more of a quality issue than nobody pays attention anymore.
Oh totally, if people want to watch the high-quality content they know where to go but it is quite overwhelming with the amount of services and platforms etc. People don't want to waste their time on something longer too!
From what I’ve seen, short-form dominates right now because it’s quick, easy, and addictive. But I don’t think long-form is going anywhere. When people want depth, storytelling, or to really learn something, long-form still wins. The key shift is that you have to hook people quickly before they’ll commit to the longer content.
That's really interesting, guess you have both sides with it and I'd say the longer long-form content seems to be actually funding the shorter-form bitesized content these days!
