You're right, absolutely no one prepares you for the mental trauma that htis job gives you but being in sales helped me move to the city of my dreams, and live in my dream neighborhood.... so I'd definitely attest for the fact that staying the course pays off. It's hard but its worth it!
One of my mentors taught me to start loving rejection. Look forward to it, thinking of it as invaluable learning fuel. You learn more from a single rejection than you learn from 10 successes. Start looking forward to the rejection, and if you get a sale, it's like an unexpected surprise.
Honestly, I'd look into another field you feel passionate about. Doing mental gymnastics to learn to enjoy your job doesn't sound like it would be a good fit in the long term.
Don't think anyone is on their deathbed wishing they sold more anyhow.
Rejection is 90% of sales. Its not for everybody.
Nobody ever says how many strikeouts Babe Ruth had while he was hitting all those home runs. Look it up!
See if that puts you in a different mind set.
It's possible that a life in sales just isn't for you. Nothing wrong with that, some people are just not wired for it. Or, it's possible that a new job could be what you need. If you're selling something that's just not working out, that can mess with your head. So maybe think about moving on to a better situation before giving up on sales entirely.
