Generally, the cost of egg/embryo freezing isn’t covered by insurance. That being said, even if you were going to implant immediately, you often freeze the embryos anyway to get the timing completely right. Freezing isn’t insanely expensive but it’s not cheap (1,000-1,500 for the freeze and 700-900 per year for storage). Some insurances don’t allow you to do a new cycle if you have embryos frozen (I.e. you can’t just keep doing cycles to get a bunch of embryos for when you eventually want to implant). The last thing is that your insurance likely requires some proof that you need infertility benefits and will require a prior authorization for those benefits. If you were informed that you need IVF because you have been actively trying to have kids for a year and it hasn’t worked, that usually fits the description they are looking for. If it’s less than that, they may say that you need a little more doctor explanation before they will authorize benefits. I know that’s a lot but we have been doing IVF for a couple years now and it’s some of the info I wish I had in the beginning - good luck!

I thought they did cover a portion of freezing eggs just like in vitro
They did not when I worked there. It was a benefit that a lot of big 4 provided a few years ago but it seems like they phased it out (can’t speak for EY or KPMG).
