I’ve been noticing a disturbing pattern lately with students submitting assignments using the same AI-generated structure, not to mention vocabulary that is much more advanced than what they would normally use. It's like they're not even trying to make it their own. Do any of you feel like you can spot an AI paper from a mile away? It’s getting harder to grade so I’m just plugging in 0s and moving on. 🤷‍♀️

That’s why I do everything on paper, in class. No phones, no Chromebooks. Can’t look anything up online, can only use their given notes or their given packets or textbooks.

It forces them to slow down, read, figure things out, critically think, and apply themselves. Old school. It works. I don’t care about using AI. It makes the students dumber by the day.

Seeing the same thing. I ask them to tell me about their paper. They can’t tell me so, zero..

It's no different than spotting plagiarism, though AI, as it's essentially a plagiarism engine, certainly makes it easier. I've talked to kids about AI and the danger of relying on it, but that message seems to get lost. All they hear from society in general is that AI is the greatest thing ever. And a lot of people really seem to believe that.

I’ve noticed this happening more and more too. The difference in tone and vocabulary makes it pretty obvious when students aren’t putting in their own work. I’ve been thinking about requiring them to submit drafts or outlines in stages to see how their ideas develop over time. It’s not foolproof, but it could help them engage more in the process and discourage relying on AI too much.

Usually, I can spot AI use. I try to make opportunity to converse with my students, and give them handwritten assignments. That way I have an idea of their writing skills

They do the same with math. There are lots of cheat sites, but there are some subtle signs to notice.

I just started meds yesterday and the change in my focus and attention to detail is mind blowing. My only concern is, just yesterday I had a tough feedback session with my manager around how I’m taking too long to complete my work, giving them anxiety around close deadlines. I’m new in the job (3 months in). Should I explain anything about my adhd to my manager or just wait for them to notice the change in me?

Baby furniture. What is everyone doing? FTM and trying to figure out if it’s worth investing in very expensive nursery furniture. We were looking at the Natart furniture collection and the Silva collections. These both come in at about $2000-$2400. The furniture is high quality and grows with the child. Alternatively I could go the lower end route at get everything for like $800. Is that wise? I hear horror stories about low quality and paint chipping from the baby teething on the crib.

Does anyone else constantly put off putting their time in as they go and then hate their life at the end of the month? Then once you get caught up, you don’t want to enter more time, and so you fall behind again. It’s a vicious cycle.

Hi All,
Just want your suggestion on this to help me decide.
I've been working in QA team for big data project and recently I've got offers from Startup and service based MNC as data engineer for the role of Data Engineer.
I've not worked on the actual development of ETL batches till now but I want to learn and grow gradually.

What kind of organisation would be best for me considering my mental health as well because I take too much stress ?

Thanks 🙏

How do you keep up/in touch with your network? Mine barely post anything on LinkedIn, so commenting on their posts is out of the question, and apparently it's impolite to just message or email them if the job searcher doesn't have anything to share besides asking for a referral or opening. If I don't have any relevant information to share with them, what should I do?
