Asking about salary history has been outlawed in some states and cities. So that concept is fairly old-fashioned and seems to be fading out. Having a potential employer cite a salary number rather than relying on what someone was paid previously does seems more fair to candidates.

That's good to know! Yeah, Fair play to those states and cities for pushing that through, it just makes sense to judge someone on what the job's worth, not what they earned before. Hopefully more places catch on!
Pro
It's definitely fair! I have personally not come across this yet, maybe because I've not looked for a job for while now but I like it.
I haven't run into that like ever. I would not feel comfortable giving them my salary history. Definitely not something that we want to focus on and I feel like that helps company give lowball offers.
Pro
Agreed! I wouldn't be comfortable either. They should focus on experience and skills, not past salaries.

It's one of those things you don't notice until you're job hunting again. But honestly, it's brilliant that it's becoming more common.
