This life isn’t for everyone, and no shade when I say this, it may not be for you. I would pivot while you have options and leverage what education and experience you do have into something that aligns with your skill set. If asked why the change, credit the experiences you had with helping you discover your passion/purpose and moving in that direction for growth opportunities.
Definitely doing some reflection myself and identifying areas of improvement
Honestly 3 for 3 it could be a coincidence but unlikely.
Chase your curiosity. Don’t let the outcomes dictate how you decide to proceed with your career.
If you teach a fish to climb a tree, she will fail miserably.. find your thing bro
I’d suggest doing something else. Laid off/fired from all of them means there’s probably something on your end that you need to work on.. I’d recommend taking your ego out of it and trying to get honest feedback and make improvements for going to another company, doing the same thing, and expecting a different outcome..
Some companies are just unstable , it’s not you necessarily. There are so many places quick to judge in a week and you’ll see the same places that let you go advertise doe your job 4x a year because it’s them not you . Don’t give up , be more vigilant during the interview . Ask specific questions , you’ll find red flags within the interview if you do. Some places think nice is weak , some places want to decide in a week and I reality noone can decide in that short a time if you’re going to be good . Don’t switch the accounting, switch the business type . 3 in a row means there had to be some signs in the interview . In other words interview them , it’s not just they interview you .
Move into small accounting practice where you can build up your skills/technical knowledge whilst studying for the CPA. Once you grasp the technique, it’s a skill you have for life. Be patient with yourself, get the qualification and then ‘pivot’. Best of luck
Was kpmg your first or last gig?
Public accounting is a beast unto itself. If u understand accounting well and don’t have crazy salary expectations I’m fairly certain a small to midsize business will give you an opportunity. But you have to figure out why your productivity is slow and address that
Sounds like accounting is not the career for you
I pivoted for a few years to logistics and really loved it. I did a lot of data mining and statistics analysis to help determine reorder points, stocking levels, etc. I started as part time and moved up quickly. I eventually pivoted back to accounting when the logistics company was sold, but sometimes I miss it!
I could also see pivoting to an operations roll. Good luck to you!
