Literally sleeping in the office? No, but my team has gotten hotels next door to the client and would stay in them taking 3 or 4 hour naps before returning to the office for the last week of filing.
This was pre-Covid. I haven’t worked anything like those hours since
My team pulled all nighters (as in stay in the office from 9am-4am then run home for a shower and to nap for an hour before coming back). AWM tax.
Yes we did

Spent 36 hours in the office without sleep as an associate. Client CFO was with us and trying to finish an audit before market open but there were errors that couldn’t be reconciled.
No one knew the extent of issues and were constantly “1 hour away” from finishing. Didn’t file until 3 days later…
Yeah seeing situations like that taught me that nothing we do is worth sacrificing more than what's reasonable. Once had a client request assistance for huge issue week before filing, of course we didn't have enough time to fully resolve it by filing. About a month later they filed late, makes you realize that a few days doesn't matter much in our world, even if it causes deadlines to be missed. Because in those situations it's the clients fault or whoever for letting that situation occur, and it's not our job to kill ourselves to try and help their fire drill.
Seen other times when I worked so hard all week to get something to the client whos asking for it everyday, then when given to the partner the partner is out for the day or some other reason that they aren't willing to drop e erything to review/push it to the client. Of course the client waits patiently a few more days for it to get through parnter retire, and you realize taking an extra day or two (instead of killing yourself) would make no difference.
Pre covid yes. Not worth it to drive home just for 2 hours of sleep, so just turn the lights off
