Anyone here in IB restructuring willing to share tips and good resources to use to prep for an upcoming interview? I don’t have IB/finance experience but took a modelling course on wallstreetprep. Also, I am planning on studying the HL case study and read the interview guides on restructuringinterviews.com. Lastly, If you can share what the interview was like for you, that would be appreciated. TIA

You mention “less experience.” What’s your definition of less experience? Less time in the industry? Less time at the agency? Or inferior skill sets? Just because someone has less time in the industry doesn’t mean they aren’t outperforming you. Are they go to team members? Do they have great mentors and supervisors?
I 150% agree that you cannot and should not compare yourself to others, because you don’t know what kind of value they bring. As one who does a lot of hiring, firing, raising and praising, I have people all the time come up and ask why they aren’t getting paid the same/more and someone else. My answer? Because they provide more value to the company.
Don’t focus on pay being fair because it’s not and shouldn’t be. Compensation is/should be based on the value you bring to the company and the worth the company places on that value. Figure out what is valued at your company. Then Maximize that value in yourself. Oh and it’s never “doing a great job” and won’t be on a job description. You need to focus on things like becoming your supervisors right hand, take things off their plate, make sure your accounts are running smoothly, get your clients to love you, take initiative, make your superiors lives easier.
That’s how you become invaluable and will find an easier path to promotion, money, and opportunity. And fuck what others are making, salary is your worth - not anyone else.
You should talk about your own accomplishments for why you deserve a raise to match “market” rates. As long as you’re not comparing yourself to other Acct Sups making more money with less experience.
