Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

I really do think it should be compensated more fairly. It seems like corporate doesn't really prioritize those kinds of skillsets. Even when I recommend people for accolades and awards based on their people skills, they are overlooked in favor of more tangible skills.

Totally feel you! All that behind-the-scenes work really keeps things running, yet it barely gets noticed. Thanks for pointing that out, people skills matter way more than they’re given credit for!
Nope. Good luck. If we got fairly compensated for all that, there wouldn't be enough money left over to pay executives their 7-figure bonuses. Gotta prioritize!

Thanks for sharing! Really puts into perspective how much invisible work goes unnoticed and how skewed priorities can be when it comes to compensation.

I’ve noticed that too. We barely get paid enough for what we do in general which is sad. I think people that care about their jobs should receive an extra bonus for the hard work that they do.

Totally agree! It’s crazy how much effort goes unseen sometimes. Really appreciate you sharing, hopefully more workplaces start recognizing that kind of hard work.
