I’ve seen a lot of people recommending to use recruiters but how do you distinguish between the good and bad ones before actually contacting them? Don’t want to waste my time with a bad one when I don’t need to

Look through your PL and see which recruiters your company has used before and decide if they introduced good hires for your current firm.

I took the approach of not optimizing before starting but instead reached out to any that had interesting opportunities that reached out to me. I did this by turning on open to work on LinkedIn to the view only recruiters can see. Any recruiters that reached out I scheduled time to chat with them so they could consider me for jobs they currently had and any that came in. Did this about a dozen times with recruiters from different companies before landing a job.

You’ll only know for sure by connecting with them and then you can decide whether to continue or not. If you’re really looking you shouldn’t be in a position to exclude any options yet. As your career grows, clear winners will stand out and you will use them for your hiring needs as well.

Married to a crazy rich girlfriend and it's the worst experience of my life. She can afford anything, flying first class everywhere, wears all branded stuff and she doesnt have to work for life. I am working very hard to provide for family and I am still not able to add any value to her life and she's been distancing herself. We havent had any meaningful interaction in the past 1 year too, been sleeping separately, no touch/kiss/sex or anything like that. We might be divorcing soon...

Additional Posts in Job Searching in Accounting

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

Hi all,

Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both
KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.

Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.

Thanks!

been in industry (small companies) for 5 years with an active CPA. Wanted to get in SEC reporting roles but almost every company requires 2-year public accounting exp. Now applying for public accounting firms entry level positions but almost all firms HR asked if I had ever worked in firms. Got rejection emails from firms all the time. Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?
