There are more companies misunderstanding AI than ones that use it properly. Even the ones using it well can have issues because the tech is new.
Any leader who considers themselves "an AI leader" of any kind needs to understand this.
I prefer calling such a company an "AI canary" instead of an "AI leader".
Yes. This is extremely common.
Legacy systems only one person understands → you
New hires still ramping → you become trainer
Multiple platforms → context switching overload
Management pushing AI → without reducing workload
OMG, YES! Exactly that!
Only true code developers might see a benefit from any of it, maybe a few other offshoots. Engineers or those who support 3rd party platforms (ie no home grown code) cannot be expected to “use AI” for anything outside of (maybe) integration efforts with other platforms. Even then, most of it is complete nonsense as we need to 4-eye everything, and correct items that are slightly off, not to mention entirely irrelevant items.

Look at it this way , now they can't fire you. You are the only person that actually knows now until maybe everyone else (new) catches up. It's not rocket science- managers dont fire the person that has all the information- then their job is on the line....
Yes, management thinks that AI always saves time because they write emails in 15 seconds with it and get quick summaries of documents. They want to give you more work and will do so, and tell you that you have AI, so get with the program.
