Really curious to know if you gain a different amount of knowledge depending on if you work for a union or private. Does anyone have any input?

My bonus this year was patently absurd, so I used a bit on some heat: AMM 3s, Parra Air Max 1, and the black Union 4s. Hate to let the resellers win. But at the same time I worked my ass off and wanted some kicks lmao

I’m a director/DP who has started my own small commercial production company. I’ve mainly been doing direct to client work (while also working as a hired gun for other production companies). I’m non-union currently and the budgets my company has handled go up to $250k. Based out of Los Angeles.

I currently work at a large research institution and am in the process of getting retroactively reclassified to a new title (Long story but my PI is cheap and routinely pays ppl the bare minimum so now the Union is helping me w/ a retro reclass.) Reclass can take 2 - 6 months to process. Meanwhile, I am interviewing for industry job. If I get an industry job, what do I do if my reclass isn’t processed yet? I want the title and the money owed which may be about $15000- 20000.

Why if you are on H1B is so much problematic for vendors looking for contractors ? Vendors keep on asking to join on W2 rather that Corp to Corp although for employees on H1B we cannot join on W2 due to immigration issues. Point being does it matter for end client , if the contractor is coming as W2 or not ?
