You are judging a self selected group of married people that want to get away to a trade show and those that have to go. The married people that want to be home and can are not present for your analysis. I did a ton of trade shows as a single guy and had a blast until I got sick of them. The married people that came wanted to be away and to play. Generally it is insecure men that cheat in my opinion/observations.

What do you expect? Most people in life don’t process their emotions meaningfully and are full of trauma and limiting beliefs.
Consequently, they aren’t happy in relationships or life. You’re just seeing the external manifestation of it.

Very few relationships these days are based on commonality and deep connection. Most are relationships based on lust. Lust based relationships don’t last.

Don't let this cloud your perspective. I've been going to work conferences (tech) for years and have only seen 1-2 obvious "affairs" taking place, and I didn't have the full story so can't begin to judge. Also, lots of relationships are nuanced (e.g., open marriage) and there is no way to know what is really going on and if people are just flirting or actually sleeping together.
Maybe some of them have open relationships? Probably wishful thinking 😬
Indeed, I'd say at least 25 of the long term couples I know are in open relationships. I suspect the number is higher, but people don't talk about it.
Wild, isn’t it? Salespeople seem to love getting together, getting blasted and going out on the prowl (at least the teams I’ve worked with).

If you’re a very young adult then I don’t know why you should be at trade shows in the first place. You should be in school.

Humans are only mostly monagamous. I used to work with accident attorneys who had paid help openly at the comventions. It was worse.
I lived in a hotel for a year for work. Then I traveled to Texas every other week for a year. I eat alone and barely drink while on the road. I call it a lesson learned because I don't need male companionship when I am by myself traveling for work. It made a huge difference. I am back in my room getting ready to sleep before the really gross stuff happens.
