McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company I have my first rounds (2 cases) for a position at the risk practice. Will I be interviewed by consultants in the risk practice? I wonder if I can ask some risk practice specific questions at the end of the interviews. (Didn’t get the names of the interviewers yet so I cannot google)

It’s a window into their culture.
They’d know better if they weren’t all 25 year olds in their first recruiting job…
We’ve reached the stage in society where literally everyone hates their job because they see someone on social media with a “cooler” job. No one is passionate about being good at what they’re capable of so they just go through motions.
We reached that point in society with everything.
It’s a ghost job. The purpose of the call wasn’t to hire you. It was to promote the agency
You are right - the recruiter kept name dropping and talking about Cannes. I’m like who cares, can we get back to talking about me lol
tbh it depends on the recruiter. i just interviewed at IPGH. the one recruiter i was placed with was so bland, not helpful and didn’t give me any information. they went away and their counterpart really changed the whole experience for me and was really communicative and helpful
If you’re comfortable, let the counterpart know their attitude and energy changed things for you. I’m sure they’d appreciate the recognition.
Agree. It’s become painful.
Recruiting has been cut to the bone across all sectors. Odds are this recruiter has dozens, if not more, roles to source for.
Doesn’t leave a lot of time to actually dive in deep and get familiar with candidates or positions - hence the superficial interactions.
Yeah, and then you wait 3 weeks for them to get back to you (if they don’t ghost you). This just happened to me. After 2 weeks I emailed the recruiter for an update and she replied that the hiring manager had been working on a pitch and traveling so she hadn’t been able to connect. Plausible. But also sounds like a generic “advertising” excuse. My sense is that she forgot about me and dropped the ball entirely.
Nothing like an experienced middle aged creative being interviewed by a 20 something HR person whose mommy still does their laundry.
