Hi fishies. I have a ton of interviews coming up soon including a case interview at EY within their Innovation and Experience Design practice for Digital Strategy Manager. I am super comfortable with CX, design thinking, etc which are the types of projects I would be working on BUT I am absolutely terrible in case interviews. I was hoping it would be based on CX or design but my understanding is there is some revenue component idk. Anyone have any insight? I would greatly greatly appreciate it!

I’m pretty sure I only did 2 office interviews, but this is pretty standard. Slalom spends a lot of time in the interview process to make sure it’s a good fit on both sides - you’ll talk to different people at each step in the process...some from leadership, different people from the practice you’ll be working with, and (depending on how big the office is) the GM at the end.
It wasn’t difficult at all...just time consuming.
Sent. Thank you.
One phone screen, two in-persons, offer several weeks later. Was told we hire for “fit” first, tech is definitely second.
“Fit” equates to:
- can you socially mirror people
- can we put you in front of a client without getting embarrassed
- does your practice team get a good vibe from you
- do you have any motivation what so ever
- are you accurately representing your skills
- stuff like that... the intangibles
Remember, not everyone needs to be an alpha dog. Once you get big enough, we need solid “B” players as well, to be happy delivering without leaving for the first job opportunity you get. We need to make sure our investment will pay off as well.
Too many people on here making claims about “how slalom is” when it very well could vary by office. Each may have similiar but different interview process
True - I more am referencing the comments above like “slalom is notorious for this” .. blanket statements like that irritate me
3 separate office interviews on different days? Who are you interviewing with for each of these steps? Sounds like a lot
^ we have physicians on this bowl too? Awesome! More diversity!
Slalom did 5 interviews over 2 months before I got hired! I left after 5 months there because of bad/rude leadership in my office! Best decision leaving!
Did you feel the interviews were difficult? Anything they do to try to trip you up?
That sounds about right. A couple phone interviews and then a case as part of an interview Superday. Pretty standard stuff
@SC3 Can you expand on what your case study was like? I have mine coming up and would love to feel a little more prepared
...including a case study. Is this standard? Why is the process so long? For folks who’ve been through it, has it been difficult?
My experiences for consulting so far when applying for entry level positions has been 2-3 phone calls and 3-4 interviews including a case study on the interview day.
Absolutely!
I did a phone screen, one in person meeting with peers for a case study, and then my to be practice area lead, then a second in person to meet with the MD and GM. Didn’t see like that much to me.
ZS no, it wasn’t for me.. it was only two Fridays in the office, about 2 hours each time. Not bad.
MC1, depends on the practice area you’re applying for, as it varies. What’s the role?
Slalom varies wildly depending on which market/locale. We do 8-12 'conversations' and the candidate experience is rated very highly. Each office operates with their own version of the process. I'm sorry your experience was poor. They definitely aren't all that way.
I’ve applied to Slalom once and also sent my resume over with a referral and having multiple conversations with those at the office...never got any traction. Is it pretty difficult to move over there? Seemed to be fairly easy for some folks in the past, maybe they are not growing as much?
