Just hate, hate my job. Should have done a 3 month SWE bootcamp in 2021 and moved to being a coder. Friends in tech work 35-40 hours a week and make much more

that was me back in 2019. did a hard pivot started from scratch as entry level SWE after years in consulting. no regrets, making 600k now as a lowly L5 working 30 hours a week

that said, the job market for tech has become abysmal in the last year or so.

Congratulations on making the switch before the golden run post Covid. Also, agree that tech market has faced headwinds in the past year or so

What do you hate about it

Me, a mobile developer, working ~10 hours a week remotely in Europe reading this after a bcg recruiter asked me to work for them onsite for the same pay in Boston and I told them no 😅

Hi - looking for direction: I’m about to file my citizenship application without a lawyer (after 5yrs of permanent residency). I filled out the N-400 form myself. At the end of the form it’s asking to upload any documents/evidence. How important is it uploading documents and what exactly is preferable to upload? (ex: foreign passport pgs, univ degree, employment verification?). It didn’t specifically require to upload copies. Would my case be denied if I don’t upload anything? Thx in advance

Read that McK is paying 2K higher than BCG this year which means BCG will probably raise again next year to at least match. However, they can’t just copy McK with 2K to match because that would look bad so they’ll have to beat it again. Then McK and Bain will follow. Barring a devastating recession, I’m guessing this means MBB is all getting raises again next year?

Summer intern at BCG. I've been told by a few people that you need to spend your first few cases "earning your stripes" to gain staffing optionality or be servile/loyal to a pyramid to gain access to the cooler case work within that PA. It's seemed particularly emphasized at times.

Is this the standard at McK? I'm trying to guage the staffing optionality and openness of McKinsey culture to direct your random walk.
