Sooooo when MBB says cover letters are optional, I should still write one right? They’re “optional”? Just hate cover letters 😫

My personal experience. The McKinsey cover letter I sent in was the wrong one. It was addressed to another firm. I still got an interview.

I just uploaded my resume twice 🙊

Same

BCG wasn’t optional

Just spend 30 minutes writing a super cookie cutter one that is 50% from the posted job description and 50% a couple of summary sentences from your resume.

McKinsey wont read it, BCG was not optional in my case

Don't forget there is another option: no one read it and your jokes suck.

Well they’re optional

you certainly have the option of writing one

Wouldn’t bother for M

I never read them

Hi Everyone!! Looking for opportunities/referrals for senior consultant profile in ESG domain.
current experience 4 years
preferred organisation: Big4 or MBB

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!

I was doing some googling and I saw that PWC offers MBA hires 45k in comparison to MBBs at 70k +. Is this a bad joke? I can't imagine that PWC's target for MBA hires is widely different from MBB. In the US, the pay gap isn't that wide. Any reason behind this madness?

Hey guys, need some advice. I was fortunate enough to get the Consortium fellowship at Ross but am also stuck on the CBS waitlist and am still planning to apply to Wharton in R3. Assuming I get into CBS/Wharton, is there that much of a difference between them to forgo scholarship money? For context, I want to get into product management at FAANG/fintech with pursuing MBB as a plan B. Thanks in advance!

Ex-MBB, recently started a new MM PE role, but had also applied to HBS in case the PE route doesn’t work out. Thankfully, both the PE and HBS applications were successful. Now I need to decide whether to leave my current role after only 6-10 months to go to business school, or try to defer the MBA.

What should I do? I’m torn between wanting to do MBA at an earlier age vs ensuring good PE employability post MBA(either at current firm or other). Not sure how well 6-10 Mos pre-MBA PE exp is valued

Summer intern at BCG. I've been told by a few people that you need to spend your first few cases "earning your stripes" to gain staffing optionality or be servile/loyal to a pyramid to gain access to the cooler case work within that PA. It's seemed particularly emphasized at times.

Is this the standard at McK? I'm trying to guage the staffing optionality and openness of McKinsey culture to direct your random walk.

I’m curious. What would you say is the best industry / sector for…1. WLB, 2. Great people / team, 3. Exit opp’s., and 4. Overall (mix of the above). Goes without saying the obvious “it depends on office, team, project, client, etc.” So this is an ask for general observations.
