Just left Capital One after the bulk of my time in Corp Strat, former AP at MBB. Great money, terrible experience. I was a highly paid slide writer. They promised great roles in the business and a path up - completely false. There are few business roles available, and no Corp Strat hire since 2017 has made it past MVP in the lines of business. Tread with caution.

Has anyone worked at both an MBB and life science firm? Sometimes I think I would have been exposed to more interesting/ in depth / more drug heavy projects if I went the life science route. Right now I see a lot of org transformation and people / Corp strategy health care cases at an MBB. But not sure which is better when thinking of exit opportunities in pharma. Thoughts?

What would you all say are the best consulting firms to work at in the federal government space? I’m not sure how many “prestigious” firms (like MBB) have a significant federal practice at all.

is it worth it to shift to IB or MBB after 7 years in the big four(audit and fdd)? I do think IB and MBB are interesting fields that you can acquire unique skill sets and a good network. But I don’t think I couldn’t keep up already for a daily grind. The reason why I did not pursue it earlier in my career is that I am not from a target school and I do not have an MBA. lol thoughts?

I messed up my interview with Millennium LLP for an entry level role and I feel nothing but dread right now. I believe it was my only opportunity at obtaining a high salary / profile job compared to my other options that only pay half as much. How can I accept the fact that I might not be able to start out as successful as I wanted to be? I believe it’s extremely difficult to jump between layers (E.G. Big 4 to MBB) later on in my career.

How useful is having worked with the PE practice (deal strategy, CDDs, etc.) of a consulting firm vs any other one when trying to break into PE? I can't help but notice that the most touted exit opps mentioned here are all 'G&A' positions - S&O, CorpDev, Strat, etc. Aren't these positions the first in line to go come layoff time? Prod Management seems like it would be more insulated from layoff pressure (so long as your P&L is in the black) though even that could come under budgetary pressure.
