Before each meeting think about the story you want to tell. Data work is basically just telling stories with information to make it trust worthy. So when you have those meetings take a minute and just go through what they need to understand. And document the details somewhere, so that at the end you send through the detailed information for further reference.
So example: “for further details on the project please see the page here [link]. I will be updating it regularly and if you have further questions please let me know”
I would also link the detailed page to your he meeting invites and have a summary at the top.
I have found most leaders don’t actually care about the details they want to know work is being done and that they could find it if necessary

Start with why. What is the problem, framed in terms of leadership’s objectives?
Something I’ve found most useful is finding someone in leadership I’m comfortable with and asking them if they’d go over my presentation with me. Most of those issues get resolved.
Also, make greater use of backup slides.
