See this is the stuff people want to read on here. Thanks for this, OP.

Thank you! It’s a shame, because it doesn’t seem like this kind of stuff gets much engagement. And not all the engagement it gets is productive.

Here’s the full essay, who those who are interested. https://election.princeton.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Paxton_Five-Stages-of-Fascism.pdf

To be clear, these are not the five stages, but a group of what Paxton calls “mobilizing passions” present in fascisms. They are not intended to be read sequentially. The stages are described later in the paper. If, as you say (and I agree), all 6 shown here are present among Trumpists, we’re in deep trouble.
There’s also a 7th passion, by the way, which I left out because there was a page break and I don’t think I can attach two images to a post. I still think it’s present implicitly in Trumpism:
7. The beauty of violence and of will, when they are devoted to the group's success in a Darwinian struggle.
Regarding the left, while there are some worrying trends, things are far more decentralized and we’re not seeing the kind of hierarchical organization around a leader that’s necessary for fascism. Right now, vocal extremists on the left are usually anarchists, who are ideologically opposed to hierarchy. I’m not saying I’m not concerned about moving too far to the extreme, but it’s definitely not fascism on that side that I’m worried about.
