Lately I’ve been feeling that I’m just doing the work / task for the sake of it. Day is busy with calls, then when I work on deliverables, I really don’t get time to reflect and read stuff at my own pace because things need to get done very quickly. If you ask me a week from now what I’ve done last week at least from technicalities perspective I won’t really remember.. which is scary..
Are you facing the same issue? Any tips on how to retain the learnings amidst all the busyness?

Yes, I would imagine everyone feels that way. I’m not sure how many years you are into your career but you get to a point after years of repetitions and being the talker during walkthroughs and reporting to management or partners, you will be surprised how much you retain. Your world starts to get smaller as you learn more, your tax area gets a little easier and then you start to remember the facts and numbers with less effort. That’s my experience at least.

I dont think your mission should be to remember what you did in the last week or so. As time goes on and tou see more of the same stuff it starts to blend together.

When you come across something new you have to look into or research, thats what you are trying to retain.

Agree but what I meant more is the technical details. I’ve been working on this process documentation for more than 2 weeks now, drafting it and getting on calls..etc, but now I don’t even remember what the steps were even though i drafted it myself end to end

Trying write the rough steps down as you go. It will stick in your brain better but you’ll also have it to refer back to next time.

Looking at buying a house in Charleston, SC, then I want to get back to buying rental property. I already have two but would like to grow to 10 in the next 5 years. Is that possible and what are some ways to get some capital.

Would like some thoughts on a 2-br NYC condo my husband and I are considering. $250K HHI (no kids). No loans or debts, both have newish cars fully paid off.

Offer would be for $725K, with 10 percent down. 30yr mortgage @5%. We would need to include closing costs in the mortgage, to keep about $10k liquid. Monthly costs will be about $5k.

This unit is special, very rare (we’ve rented in the area for 10 yrs and know the local market well). Should we go for it?

Value Vs Price

While selling something I believe in, I've always focused on the value to justify the price & leave a little room to negotiate.

If I personally believe in a terrific, purposeful value packed product that commands a certain price- I would make sure it gets reflected the way you position, pitch and solves a crucial pain point like no other.

Reason being simple- If you believe in something it's easy to sell

Thoughts on PwC Houston Tax Global Structuring (M&A and ITS)?

Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!
