Lately, my crazy work hours and my spouse's schedule mean we only get a few minutes together a day, and I'm starting to feel seriously lonely. It's like we're living as roommates. What are ways I can stay emotionally close when my shifts make quality time together so rare?

Try your best to speak calmly and not “ frustrated or Overwhelmed by work issues!
Many a couple has experienced Breakdowns and ultimate separations because of the lack of communication and warmth.

Sometimes the partner can feel like the Job is the real “center of your life “

Try to make special moments, even short ones can mean a lot. Be sure to set a date night. He can set one as a surprise and you do the same. Bubble bath together with a relaxing drink (coffee or hot chocolate works), music, and soft lighting.

It's not sexy or spontaneous, but plan those moments out ahead of time. Find a day you're both going to be home early, pick a recipe, grab a bottle of wine and make dinner together. Build a morning or evening walk into your daily routine. If you've got chores to do or errands to run, do them together. And above all else, try to avoid your phone when you do find yourself at home with your spouse. You don't need grand gestures to keep that romantic spark burning, you just need to be present in the time you are able to spend together.

This is so so hard. I totally understand what you’re saying here. It’s very important to schedule some time even if it’s a week to have a date night and a date night doesn’t have to be fancy sometimes we just hang out in my garage watch TV. We have a TV in there. Hang out. Listen to music talk really simple or cook good meal. Stay home. Watch a good movie and or go out for dinner. You know little things nothing crazy

Hi Fishes,

My sibling (from India) applied for Canadian Visa for study permit (2 years) and it was rejected stating the reason "the IRCC agent was not satisfied that the applicant would leave Canada at the end of their stay.
The intake was in Jan 2023.

Should we apply again? Has anyone ever experienced this and would appreciate if they can guide me? I'm really worried and emotionally tormented. Need urgent help.

Preparing to give notice to my current firm. Accepted an amazing opportunity to lateral at a more prestigious firm (better compensation, lower billables, and shorter commute).
I’m excited to make this jump, but it’s still bittersweet for me because the partners at my current firm are truly amazing and I have learned a lot from them over the past few years and will miss them a lot. Any insight on the best way to have this convo without burning bridges? Thanks!
